Live poker trips to Barcelona, Rio, Tallinn and what’s coming up next…

Hey guys, I’ve decided to switch to writing in English so hopefully more of you are able to read!

Barcelona

The past weeks have been quite busy with live poker. Firstly there was WPT Barcelona where I had a decent run in the main-event by finishing 40th out of 1200 runners. The score was good enough for 14k€ cash. It felt good to get a deep run, since lately I’ve been struggling a little bit with NL tournaments since spending most of my time and effort on my PLO game.

Overall the festival was pretty good with nice 50/100€ PLO action also. I ended up playing only two sessions and making slight profit. After Barcelona I flew straight to Rio De Janeiro for the MILLIONS South America.

Rio

Being first time ever in Brasil was pretty cool experience. The city itself seemed fun and had lots of stuff to see. I also got to experience a football match between Flumense and Flamengo at the legendary Maracana stadium.

Poker wise I can’t say too many bad things, except for my performance. I had 2 x entries in the $10k Main Event and 3 x entries in the $10k High Roller – no cashes. I ran pretty bad and probably wasn’t playing my best either. However, the venue for tournaments was really good and the event was run very well. I’m looking forward to going back!

Patrik Antonius Poker Challenge

I had a really fun experience which was good combination of high stakes poker and drinking! It’s probably not the smartest combination but there were some special rules involved. And plenty of shots. You might find highlights somewhere online if you want to see (recommended). The stakes were between €100/100€ and €100/200/400. Besides this famous televised cash game there were plenty of nice tournaments. For me the tourneys went really well. After winning the €1k PLO turbo on first day for €17,4k – I managed to get 2nd in the €10k highroller for €58k after losing the HU to the man himself – Patrik Antonius. The fields were quite small but the festival was organized well.

US Masters

Myself and legendary golfer John Daly

For a passionate golfer like me – this has to be one of my best experiences when it comes to Sports. Seeing two days of world class golf in one of the worlds most famous golf courses Augusta National was really a dream come true. Seeing guys like McIlroy, Koepka, Spieth a few metres away was really cool. The tournament couldn’t really have had a better ending either, after the legend himself Tiger Woods was sitting top of the leaderboard on Sunday with score 13 under par. If you’re into golf – I really suggest to go see any major golf-tournament.

Summer plans

Next up there is some really cool stuff to come. Online on partypoker starting this Sunday there will be the first ever PLO Series which I’m really looking forward to. After that I’m heading to Cyprus for the first time for the partypoker LIVE Merit Poker Classic. I’m planning to play $5k, $10k and $25k tournaments there, along with some PLO cash games.

Soon after that there will be MILLIONS North America in Montreal. The tourney will be held at Playground Casino which I’ve been told is a really great venue for poker. The tournament schedule also seems great. After Montreal it’s time to get my golf bag ready and head to Las Vegas for a month filled with golf and poker.

Take care guys,

-Joni
