My travels from London to Dublin to Dumfries and what’s up next….
Hi everyone, so here’s what’s been happening…
I was heading down to London GUKPT last time I wrote and going for that back to back final table, How close was I! I ended up 16th but it was a great tournament as per usual from GUKPT, who have their own market in UK poker and are still doing very well.
Dublin, Firaldo and just a few Jaegerbombs
After that close shave it was time for a visit to one of my favourite cities in the world.
Believe it or not that would be Dublin! What a great city! I love it to bits and my good friend Firaldo (Niall Farrell) joined me.
They had the European DeepStacks event on over there with a very friendly buy in of 500 euros. They also had a €1k High Roller on the schedule, which did eventually take off and was a great laugh.
No luck for either me or Firaldo in the Main Event unfortunately, but Dublin is not the worst place to bust a tournament and we had such a great time. Coincidentally (or not) Celtic were playing Valencia while we were over there so we went to watch in one of the local bars and soak up the atmosphere. A few
drinks were had as you would expect with Firaldo and I!
Celtic let us down and dampened the mood for a short period of time (about 15 minutes), then we were off to the next pub for another round of Jaegerbombs.
But back to the poker side of things…
After we both busted the €500 Main we fired the €1k High Roller. I did not last long but Firaldo was chip leader going into day 2, which was the final day. With €18k up top I had something to shout about as I had 30% of his action which we had swapped.
Firaldo was crushing it and went to the final table with the chip lead so I was lying in bed thinking it was a formality that he would get top two! He did not get top two after losing several flips he ended up 5th for €4k I think…so that was the end of Dublin.
My partypoker TV stream and a card game at Mama’s
Next up was a stream day on twitch for partypoker pencilled in for the 26th of February so off I headed down to Firaldo’s in Dumfrie’s for a week. Firaldo has a great set up for streaming and he has been twitching a lot for his sponsor No Limit GG. It’s great that partypoker are one of their sponsors as No Limit GG and they have some good guys on their channel including partypoker pros Fedor Holz and Josip Simunic. 🙂
So, it seemed the perfect fit. Firaldo could hop in on my stream every now and again and also give me some tips on his new found Twitching skills 😉
All this never took place however and I’ve now been rescheduled in for a slot same time this month. The main reason being partypoker have been busy signing so many Twitch streamers as of late in the newly established Team Online with some great guys such as Jeff Gross and Jaime Staples now representing them. There was lots going on and I was more than happy to move aside but make sure you check out my rescheduled stream on the partypokerTV twitch channel on 26th March!
So no twitch stream but I went to Dumfrie’s anyway to play poker at Mama’s. Mama is legendary in Dalbeattie. It’s a 20 minute drive from Dumfrie’s. She has her own pub and runs a card game and a dominoes night etc. So, Firaldo’s brother Iain was kind enough to pick up myself, Firaldo and Firaldo’s girlfriend Edita and off we headed for a game of cards in Dalbeattie.
I didn’t last long being first out and that was even with one re-entry!! Edita was next to fall and by this time Mama was also falling due to the amount of Jaegerbombs consumed. The final table approached and both brothers had made it! Iain going out in 3rd and Firaldo being crowned champion of Mama’s and now proud owner of a small town called Dalbeattie!!!
Next up: Monster Series, Manchester and WPT Barcelona
Up next for me is the Manchester GUKPT where I am now and then I’m off to WPT Barcelona, which is sponsored by partypoker now they’ve teamed up with WPT. I love Barcelona and have always had a great time there so I’m looking forward to that.
There’s also an online series starting tomorrow the Monster Series which is brilliant for any recreational players out there or those starting out with small bankrolls. It’s a great opportunity for lower stakes players to have a chance at playing for massive prize pools. For example, the highlight this Sunday is a $150k GTD tournament for $55 buy-in and next Sunday the Main Event is $200k GTD for the same buy-in. Insane! It’s definitely worth checking out!
Hi guys, welcome to my blog! If there is anything you want me to write about specifically let me know and I’ll do my best. Cheers!
