Lately I’ve been super busy when it comes to poker. The Caribbean Poker Party at Bahamas last November was one of my favourite tournaments of the year and I can guarantee it’ll be on my calendar next year too. During the tourney week at the wonderful Baha Mar resort I played the 5k Main Event and the 25k Highroller from which I cashed out $60 000 for the 38th place.

After Bahamas I’ve been focusing on online poker. I’ve been delighted to witness PLO cash games gradually transfer from Pokerstars to Partypoker.
At the beginning of the year I made a ‘propbet’ with a few friends where I had to play 500,000 hands in online cash games. Now that we’re sitting in the middle of December, the current count is 450,000, so I’ll have a full calendar until the end of year. The perky cash game situation at partypoker is a nice help and I’ve even had 18 partypoker PLO cash game tables open on my screen some days. Also, the 2/5 fastforward PLO just landed at partypoker and I can’t wait for it to get noticed by the 2/5zoom players at pokerstars, so those games could transfer to partypoker also. Time will tell. All around it’s nice to see that poker is doing very well at the moment and the playerbase is growing.

A good example from this is the recently played MILLIONS Online which surprised the sceptics and had nearly 4,400 entries on a $5,300 tournament. I had a bit of a tacky start and I busted three times on Days A, B and C until finally on the fourth try I managed to grow the starting stack of 1,000,000 chips into 16,000,000, which was a relatively good starting point for Day 2. Day 2 kicked in with style and after a few hours of play I was close to the 100,000,000 mark, but eventually after a few misses, I was down to about 40,000,000. At this point there were around 60 players left in the tournament.
My last hand was a traditional coinflip, TT vs AQ and roughly 80,000,000 chips in the pot. The river was an ace and I busted for 63rd. place and a $43 000 paycheck.

The tournament itself was a very good experience, not only because of the success but because of the great structure, satellites and the field. I’m looking forward to the next MILLIONS Online tournament. We might even see a 25 or 30 million guarantee.

My 2019 season started with Aussie Millions as per usual. A month in Melbourne filled with poker, tennis and vacationing is one of my favorite trips every year. I’ve had not too much success in Melbourne, but I managed to cash out $48 000 from the very last tournament (3rd place from the 5k PLO), which was enough to break me even from the earlier losses. This time I had no success in the 10k Main Event nor PLO tournaments worth 25k.

Next up will be a few weeks of online grinding, after which I will play the tourney week in Tallinn, then WPT Barcelona where I will be flying for the very first time to Brazil where is the next partypoker MILLIONS tournament. In addition to the $10,300 Main event I have not planned anything else yet, but I’m sure there will be some exciting cash games and vacationing. I’ll let you know more in my next post.
